The Commonwealth Road Improvements project will develop preliminary design for improvements at the Highway 97/Commonwealth Road intersection and through Lake Country Town Centre.

These improvements were identified in two recent planning studies conducted in the area:

The preliminary design will consider opportunities that will enhance the livability and inclusivity of residential and commercial neighbourhoods that are situated along the corridor, including:

  • Intersection upgrades at Highway 97 and Commonwealth Road
  • Intersection upgrades at Highway 97 and Beaver Lake Road
  • Highway access strategy
  • Implementation of median barrier between the north end of the northbound Duck Lake pullout to south of the Duck Lake Estates housing development
  • Development of a new frontage road network
  • Active transportation and mobility upgrades for pedestrians and cyclists
  • Safety upgrades through Lake Country Town Centre
